Giorgio Armani has long understood fashion to be an expression of personal expression, keeping his brand relevant by producing products such as perfume, accessories and the lower-priced Emporio line – even sportswear!

He is best known as the designer who revolutionized red carpet attire, using soft tailoring techniques and effortlessly stylish dresses.


Giorgio Armani fashion was born on July 11, 1934 in Piacenza, Northern Italy to parents of modest means. As a youth he dreamed of becoming a doctor but abandoned studies to fight in World War II instead. When he returned from combat duty he worked at La Rinascente department store and learned more about fashion business than anywhere else before going freelancing for Nino Cerruti before freelancing independently himself as menswear designer before partner Sergio Galeotti convinced him to start Giorgio Armani S.p.A together launching both menswear and womens ready-to-wear collections simultaneously in 1975.

Armani Group now encompasses Armani Collezioni, Emporio Armani, Armani Jeans and A/X Armani Exchange with accessories and eyewear as part of its portfolio. Over 200 outlets globally provide fashionable apparel such as fragrances, skincare, watches and jewellery as well as their own restaurants and hotels; additionally the brand can be found at select specialty clothiers and high-end department stores.

Armani has made his mark as one of the most acclaimed designers since WWII. Throughout his lengthy career he has developed his signature style, garnering him one of the highest profile designer roles ever seen in modern history. He has created outfits for numerous celebrities like Julia Roberts, Cate Blanchett and Leonardo DiCaprio while also designing uniforms for the Italian Olympic Team and offering sportswear through EA7 sportswear line.

He has not only designed clothing for celebrities, but has also taken part in various social initiatives. With strong environmental values and concerns over climate change, he designed clothes from recycled plastics as part of his eco-fashion line and supported events like Green Carpet Challenge to promote eco-fashion.

Nino Cerruti was one of Italy’s foremost fabric wizards and challenged Armani to craft a suit jacket that was less rigid and more sartorial – an experience which proved formative for him and revolutionized menswear design. Armani achieved this goal, creating something with “the suppleness of a cardigan and lightness of a shirt”, an achievement which revolutionized menswear design.

Armani quickly earned a name for itself among stars like Jennifer Lopez at the 2010 Academy Awards, who wore an Armani Prive pink gown with an intricate bodice and side train, complete with sculptural bodice features and side train train. Other celebrities who wore similar pieces at various ceremonies and events, including Claire Danes, Temple Grandin and Monaco Princess Charlene (at her wedding and event respectively).

Giorgio Armani, one of the acclaimed fashion designers of his generation, has received many prestigious accolades over his storied career as a fashion designer. These include winning a Guggenheim retrospective exhibition and being appointed Goodwill Ambassador by UN High Commissioner for Refugees; designing uniforms for Italy’s flag bearers during 2006 Winter Olympic games as well as professional sports teams like England’s Chelsea Football Club and Australia’s Rabbitohs; winning one of four Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia hosted in 2017 to honor eco-conscious designers like him; this award was presented by National Chamber of Italian Fashion and Eco-Age together with support from City Milan and Ministry of Economic Development; Armani himself was named one of four winners!

Armani is a global fashion brand that has expanded from local boutique to global empire in just 30 years. Offering luxury clothing, accessories, perfumes and leather goods as well as haute couture dresses and leather goods production for both men and women. Additionally, expanding into related products such as eye wear, watches and cosmetics to capitalize on its strong brand equity within apparel markets.

This brand has become a favorite among celebrities, being known for its modern yet sophisticated style. A symbol of Made in Italy luxury, the label has been worn by actresses Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman as well as royalty such as Princess Charlene of Monaco – not forgetting music superstar Lady Gaga who has worn their designs since 2010.

Alongside the main prizes, several other special awards were also handed out for positive change. These included the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action which went to Bethany Williams (for Bottega Veneta); British Emerging Talent awards given out by Halima Aden and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Bethany Williams and Rejina Pyo; Brand of the Year presented by Rita Ora and Liam Payne and given out by Bottega Veneta; British Emerging Talent awards presented to Bethany Williams representing Bottega Veneta while Rejina Pyo won Menswear category award by Halima Aden and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley respectively; Brand of the Year was won by Bottega Veneta represented by Emmanuel Gintzburger and Gabriele Maggio while Rejina Pyo won her menswear category award from Rita Ora and Liam Payne respectively.
